In line with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN)’s
objective of extending nephrology into other disciplines, the series
of Nexus Symposia - introduced in October 2006 - take an interdisciplinary
approach to encourage participants to explore the interrelation between
diseases and their manifestations with other specialists in related
disciplines.
Focus on Chronic Allograft Dysfunction
The success of kidney transplantation has been limited by three major
challenges: development of progressive chronic allograft dysfunction,
the need to continue life-long immunosuppression to prevent rejection,
and the development of post-transplant complications that is also
related to continuous drug therapy.
The main focus of this Nexus Symposium is to present and discuss
new developments in areas of pathogenesis, diagnosis and management
of chronic allograft dysfunction.
The scientific program
has been devised to address these complex issues, adopting the necessary
multidisciplinary approach throughout plenary lectures, clinical,
basic science and translational sessions and moderated discussions.
